Family background; Irish childhood; nursing training in London during World War II; relocation to United States in 1947; student at Kaiser Permanente Nursing School, 1948-1951; recollections on Dorothea Daniels, Director of Nursing and Kaiser's first female administrator; origin of the School of Nursing; change from Permanente School of Nursing to Kaiser Foundation School of Nursing; joining nursing school faculty in the 1950s; impact of civil rights movement on nursing education and other issues of the 1960s; beginning of the Nurse Practitioner Program; role of Dr. Steve Taller; Lavern Oyarzo, one of first nurse practitioners; becoming assistant director of nursing, Kaiser Oakland; 1980s issues; final years as nursing administrator, late 1980s to early 1990s.
